At Delta Coating & Linings, we specialize in chemical resistance coating applications. With over 45 years of experience, we understand the importance of chemical resistance for applications in many different industries. This is one reason that Delta Coating & Linings is used and recommended by some of the largest manufacturers in the United States.
Chemical resistant coatings provide many benefits to a wide range of industries including medical, food and beverage, rubber manufacturing and much more. Chemical resistant coatings are essential to industrial equipment such as tanks, pumps, and valves that are exposed to environmental and industrial chemicals such as alkalis and acids. Delta Coatings & Linings are capable of providing coatings that protect your equipment from chemical disturbance, corrosion, abrasion and improves durability. Delta Coatings & Linings provide coatings with a chemical resistance for temperatures up to 446°F (230°C). We also have coatings that meet the standards of ISO 9001 (2008), FDA and PFOA-free coatings.
Delta Coating and Linings offers a wide variety of coatings for a chemical resistant application including Xylan®, Epoxy, PTFE, PPS/Ryton®, FEP, PVDF/Dykor®, ECTFE/Halar®, ETFE and PFA. Choosing which coating you need for your specific application can be a difficult task, this is why we train our expert employees to assist with choosing the proper coating for your unique application.
Below is a description of each coating that could be used in a chemical resistant application:
Halar ECTFE® is resistant to most chemicals and typically the most popular for chemical resistance applications. This coating has a high impact strength with abrasion resistance and durability.
Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) is a dry film lubricant that is most commonly used in cookware appliances and fabricated in bearings, pipe liners, valves and pumps. Some of the features PTFE has are high melting point, slippery surface and chemical resistance.
Although this coating offers many ideal properties for most application in a thin film non-stick, it is not recommended for strong alkalis chemicals.
Xylan® coatings are best if a thin-film coating is required with a chemical resistance property. Since the Xylan® coating is typically applied as a thin layer, there is a possibility that you will need multiple layers.
Ryton® PPS coatings provide a strong resistance to alkalis and acids. This coating is best for companies that need a thin layer of chemical resistance coatings but also has high impact strength with abrasion resistance and durability properties.
Fluorinated Ethylene Propylene (FEP) is dry film lubricate that is most commonly used for non-stick, chemical resistance and corrosion resistant coatings. FEP is a much softer dry film lubricant than PTFE because it melts during baking which makes it more easily formable. FEP provides a nonporous film with dielectric properties, heat resistance, toughness and flexibility. This resin is mainly used for wiring application.
Ethylene tetrafluoroethylene (ETFE), is a dry film lubricant that is commonly used for non-stick and chemical resistant applications. ETFE resulting finish coating is tough, seamless, and without pinholes which is perfect for applications in harsh chemical environments.
PFA is a powder coating that offers a high-temperature chemical protection. This resign offers non-stick or release properties in high temperature services and can comply with FDA regulations. PFA has mechanical toughness, offers good dielectric properties and offers excellent chemical resistance.
Epoxy coatings are a type of thermosetting copolymer. Epoxy coatings are commonly used in concrete and steel applications because they provide chemical resistant and corrosion resistant properties.
